Welcome to our Broadway Stars West production of Seussical, Jr. here at the Opal Studios Black Box Theatre!
We are so excited and grateful to showcase the students today! They have all worked so hard this season, growing in their artistry, embracing real musical theatre energy and learning their choreography and staging. You'll feel the energy of their performance, as they connect with their audience, and connect with each other - building friendships that will last a lifetime. Please give them your support during the show with lots and lots of applause! We hope you love their performance, take it in, and celebrate in the joy of the arts with us!
A few items to go over before we begin today….
For the safety of the dancers, videotaping and photography of the show from your cell phone are not permitted. We are extremely grateful to Tony Nguyen Photography for filming these productions for us, his professional videos will be provided to each family once they have been edited and produced. (But if before or after the show you take fun photos, please remember to tag us on social!)
Remember… that the children are totally feeling your energy! The louder your applause, the more spark they will feel on the stage, so we encourage you to clap and applaud with your whole heart! Thank you so much for your support and for being a valued member of our Broadway Stars West Family! It is a privilege to teach your children, we are grateful, and hope that you will join us again for our upcoming season!

SHOW SYNOPSIS
"Oh, the thinks you can think" when Dr. Seuss' best-loved characters collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper!
Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff, My Favorite Year, Once on This Island, Ragtime), have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.
The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
Please sit back, relax and enjoy the show as our brilliant BSW Players share this fantastical, magical story with you!
